The penultimate weekend of IPL 2025 league stage ended with as many as 3 teams punching their tickets to the playoffs of the season. Gujarat Titans (GT) chased down the big target of 200 in 19 overs with all 10 wickets to spare. Their one-sided win over Delhi Capitals (DC) saw them reclaim the top spot. The defeat has now made it difficult for DC to make it to the playoffs but they still have their destiny in their own hands.
Apart from GT, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have also qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs. RCB are at the second spot and are followed by PBKS.
There is now only one spot left in the playoffs. MI and DC have realistic chances while Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) need to win their matches and hope for other results to go their way to make it to the second round.
Orange Cap
Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill breached the 600-run mark in the season and continued to dominate the league. Sudharsan, who now holds the Orange Cap, has 617 runs in 12 innings at an average of 56.09. He has batted with a strike rate of 156.99.
He is followed by Shubman, who has 601 runs in the same number of innings. The GT captain has an average of 60.10 and a strike rate of 155.69. With 523 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal sits at the third spot. The Rajasthan Royals opener has batted with a strike rate of 158.00.
Purple Cap
Prasidh Krishna scalped one wicket against DC and is now the sole owner of the Purple Cap with 21 scalps. The Gujarat Titans pacer is followed by Noor Ahmad, who has 20 wickets for Chennai Super Kings. Josh Hazlewood and Trent Boult share the third spot with 18 wickets each.
