He created history by breaching the 90m mark for the first time, thus ending his and millions of his wait. However, despite this, he could not taste victory, as he came second.
Neeraj Chopra hit a throw of 90.23m in his third attempt at the Men's Javelin Throw event of the Doha Diamond League. However, this remained his best attempt out of the six attempts in the event. Germany's Julian Weber was closely breathing down his neck, as he hit an 89.84m in his fifth attempt. This means that after five of the six rounds, it was Neeraj who was in the lead.
