The IPL 2025 is all set to restart from May 17 (Saturday) after the league was suspended for a week owing to tensions between India and Pakistan. With just 16 matches left for the season to conclude, the race for the playoffs now heats up. One of the favourites to qualify for the fnal four of the tournament are Mumbai Indians (MI). However, one of their star players Will Jacks might not be available for a major section of the tournament. He is set to be replaced by a major name in the MI squad reportedly.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Will Jacks might not be available for the IPL 2025 playoffs as he is part of the England squad that will take on West Indies in a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series. The ODI series clashes with the IPL 2025 playoffs, and hence, he might not play if MI qualify for the final four.

The ESPN Cricinfo report states that star England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow is set to replace Will Jacks in the MI squad, should they qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs. His IPL 2025 participation is subject to a No-Objection certificate. Bairstow went unsoldin the IPL 2025 auction.

He is currently captaining Yorkshire in the County Championship. He will travel to India after the match against Surrey. Bairstow will miss one Championship and two T20 Blast fixtures should his IPL deal get successful.

South Africa are all set to take on Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 on June 9. Cricket South Africa (CSA) have refused to let their players stay with their IPL franchises beyond May 26. Hence, MI's South African duo of Corbin Bosch and Ryan Rickleton might not play for them should they qualify for the playoffs.
