The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume from May 17 (Saturday) after a week of being suspended to the tensions that persisted between India and Pakistan. The first match after the tournament resumes will be between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). RCB are eyeing for a spot in the playoffs, and there have been multiple injuries in their squad, including their captain Rajat Patidar. However, the franchise is set to receive a big boost.

There were reports that star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood injured himself and would not be available for the rest of the IPL 2025. He even missed their last game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has even been selected in the Australia squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, which further raised questions on his availability.

A report in Hindustan Times states that Hazlewood will be travelling to India for the IPL 2025. However, the date of his arrival is not known.

“Yes, Josh will travel to India. We are in discussion with the authorities about the exact date of his arrival," a source close to the proceedings told the publication.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Rajat Patidar is set to miss the remainder of the IPL 2025 owing to a finger injury. The extent of his injury is such that he might also not be picked for the India A side for the tour to England. Hence, RCB would need someone to lead the side for the rest of the IPL 2025.

In the game between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) that was supposed to be held on May 13, Rajat Patidar was already ruled out due to injury, and it was star wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma who was set to lead the franchise in his absence. Jitesh himself confirmed this in a conversation on the RCB Diaries show on YouTube. Hence, it is likely that he will captain RCB.
