For those unversed, this will be the first time that India will not be part of the summit clash, which will be played between South Africa and Australia from June 11 at the Lord's Cricket Ground.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday (May 15) revealed the prize money for the 2025 finalists as well as all nine teams that took part in the tournament. The winner of the marquee clash between Australia and South Africa is set to receive $3.6 million (Rs. 30.7 crore approx) while the runners-up will get $2.16 million (Rs. 18.4 crore approx).

India's Earning Double Despite Failing To Reach The Final

ICC's announcement of the prize money in what is the first WTC final under Jay Shah's tenure has seen the total prize pool double from what it was in the 2019-21 and 2023-25 cycles. In the first editions, the total prize pool was $3.8 million (Rs. 32.5 crore approx) but this time around it has gone up to $5.76 million (Rs. 49.2 crore approx).
This has led to an increase in each time's fortunes this time around as New Zealand and Australia were awarded $1.6 million (Rs. 13.6 crore) for winning the tournament. The 2025 winners will earn more than double of that amount. Meanwhile, India finished as runners-up in both editions and were awarded $800,000 (Rs. 6.84), which is one-third of what the losing finalist will get this time around.
India's earnings from the 2023-25 cycle is nearly four times what the third-placed team (Australia in 2021, South Africa in 2023) got in the previous two editions. The second runners-up were given $450,000 (Rs. 3.84 crore approx) in the first two editions of the tournament.
