The IPL 2025 is set to resume with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 58th match of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 17). All the Indian players are available for their respective teams while some of the overseas players will miss the tournament.
Jofra Archer is among the players who will not return to India. Archer is part of Rajasthan Royals (RR). His absence has nothing to do with RR's place in the points table. The inaugural IPL Champions have managed 3 wins from 12 matches and are reeling at the 9th spot in the points table.
Cricbuzz has reported that Archer is dealing with an injury and will miss the rest of 2 matches for RR due to it. "It is not a case of not being willing because we are out of reckoning for playoffs. He is nurturing an injury and we are prioritizing his fitness," the official told Cricbuzz.
Archer has been one of the best bowlers for RR and has 11 wickets in 12 matches. The right-arm pacer has bowled with an economy rate of 9.47. Apart from Archer, RR bowling coach Shane Bond will also not return to India.
RR will face Punjab Kings in a home game on Sunday (May 18). They will finish their season against Chennai Super Kings on May 20. The fixture will be played in Delhi - a neutral venue for both teams.
CSK have 3 wins from 12 matches and are already out of the competition. The losing team of the RR-CSK tie could very well finish at the last spot in the points table. The five-time IPL Champions will be without the services of Sam Curran and Jamie Overton. Curran played 5 matches in the season while Overton was included in the final XI thrice.
