India is set to undergo a tectonic shift in Test Cricket, as Virat Kohli has retired from the longest format of the game on May 12. This means that India will go to England for the crucial five-match Test Series. The biggest question now is who will replace Kohli in the all important no.4 spot in the Indian batting order. Many want KL Rahul to come to bat at this position, while there are also reports of Karun Nair making his comeback in this spot. However, former India opener Wasim Jaffer wants someone else in that position.
In an interaction with The Times of India, Wasim Jaffer suggested that Shubman Gill would be the one who should replace Virat Kohli at no.4, even though he opens in white-ball cricket.
"I guess Shubman could be the guy (to bat at No. 4). He opens in white-ball cricket, but in Test cricket, he needs to move down to 4," said Jaffer.
After Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket, there have been reports that Shubman Gill is the frontrunner to replace Rohit Sharma as the new Test captain, after he too retired from the longest format of the game. Hence, Gill might have the tough task of replacing both Rohit and Kohli in the team.

KL Rahul Should Open, Sai Sudharsan IN

Wasim Jaffer said that Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul should open the batting as they have played well i the Border-Gavaskar Trophy together. He said that Sai Sudharsan should be given a chance at no.3.
"KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have done well as openers in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. I feel KL should continue to open. Why change something that is not broken? Sai Sudharsan looks assured, and he should be given a longer rope at No. 3," the former India player stated.
