Ravindra Jadeja created history and etched his name in the annals of cricketing history after the latest edition of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Men's Test Player Rankings. Jadeja, who was named in the ICC Test team of 2024, set a new record by becoming the player with the longest streak as the Number one all-rounder in Test history. He is now the No. 1 Test all-rounder since 1,151 consecutive days and counting.
Jadeja, who had a fine season last year, scored 527 runs at an average of 29.27. Simultaneously, he took 48 wickets at an impressive average of 24.29.
While Jadeja's reign at the top has officially become the longest in the world, it also helped him zoom past legends like Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev, and Imran Khan — players who once defined the role of an all-rounder in Test cricket. Former West Indies skipper Jason Holder was the No.1 all-rounder before Jadeja eclipsed him way back in March 2022.
With 400 points, Jadeja sits at the top of the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. His latest record cemented his spot among the modern heroes of the game and added yet another feather to his cap. Despite ageing 36, Jadeja's continued superiority shows how his fitness and skills allowed him to sustain his performance over a prolonged period of time.
