The IPL 2025 is all set to restart after being suspended for a week on Saturday (May 17) with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The final has been rescheduled to June 3 (Tuesday). The match was earlier supposed to be held in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, when it was supposed to be played on May 25 because of KKR being the defending champions. However, it looks like the venue is about to lose out on the marquee clash.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 and final are set to be moved out of Kolkata. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is likely to host the mega clashes. In fact, the report also states that the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator which was supposed to be held in the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad might also be moved out.
Why IPL 2025 Final Might Be Moved Out Of Kolkata
The Cricbuzz report states that the matches might ve moved out of their venues because if the otential of inclement weather during those days in Hyderabad and Kolkata.
According to weather reports, the monsoon is expected to arrive in the sourthern most coast of India on May 27, which is five days earlier than predicted. The Southwest monsoon which started on Tuesday (May 13) has advanced into some parts of the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, the south Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands and some parts of the north Andaman Sea as well. This is likely o affect the entire West Bengal, including Kolkata.
Hence, the fear of a washout in an already delayed IPL 2025 schedule might have forced BCCI to consider moving the final out of Kolkata. The BCCI are yet to announce the venues for the playoffs, as they are waiting on the weather conditions to finalize the venues.
