Yash Dayal once again kept his nerves and reigned supreme in the final over against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the visitors by 2 runs to move to the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table. The Rajat Patidar-led side dethroned the in-form Mumbai Indians (MI) from the top. With 8 wins and 16 points, RCB are at the top.
RCB are the only side with more than 15 points in the competition so far. MI have 7 wins from 4 matches. They have 14 points at an NRR of +1.274. They are followed by Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, respectively.
RCB are on the cusp of qualifying for the IPL 2025 playoffs while CSK continue to sit at the last spot. CSK and Rajasthan Royals are officially out of IPL 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad are almost out of the competition and another defeat here will seal their fate.
Interestingly, Yash Dayal once again dismissed MS Dhoni in the 20th over. He scored 12 off 8 balls. Yash continued his brilliance and defended 15 runs in the last over.
Orange Cap
The elusive Orange Cap once again changed hands and Virat Kohli now owns it. The RCB opener has scored 505 runs in 11 matches. He has one run more than second-placed Sai Sudharsan. Sudharsan's strike rate of 154.12 is higher than Virat's.
With 475 runs, Suryakumar Yadav sits at the second spot. He held the Orange Cap a couple of days back. Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill acquire the next two spots, respectively.
Purple Cap
Prasidh Krishna continues to own the Purple Cap. The Gujarat Titans pacer has 19 wickets from 10 matches. He is followed by Josh Hazlewood, who has 18 wickets. He missed the CSK tie due to a niggle. With 16 wickets each, Trent Boult and Noor Ahmad shared the third spot.
