Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batters of the present generation and owns multiple records. Virat, who retired from T20Is in June 2024, scored consistently in all three formats and averaged more than 50 in white-ball and red-ball cricket at the same time. Virat was once the highest run-scorer in T20Is. He is the fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODIs.
Virat has been a regular in Test cricket since 2011 and is India's most successful captain in red-ball cricket. Very few bowlers have been able to dominate Virat and one of them is James Anderson.
Speaking at an event, Virat revealed the toughest bowlers he has faced in all formats. He ignored Dale Steyn and picked Anderson as the toughest bowler in red-ball cricket.
The duo had an intense on-field rivalry. Anderson, who has now retired from international cricket, dominated Virat and dismissed him 7 times in 710 balls. Virat scored 305 runs against the England legend. The duo came across 36 times in red-ball cricket.
Virat picked Sunil Narine as the toughest bowler in T20s. A mystery spinner, Narine has mostly played against Virat in IPL. He joined Kolkata Knight Riders before IPL 2012 and has been with them since then. Virat picked Lasith Malinga and Adil Rashid as the toughest bowlers in ODIs.
Virat to make India return in June
Virat Kohli will make his national comeback when India take on England in the first Test of the five-match series in June. Even though India lost the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the seniors look set to retain their spots as India don't have a solid bench strength in the middle-order.
Virat kicked off the Australia tour with a century and with 190 runs, he was India's fifth-highest run-scorer in the series. The former India captain returned to form in the 2025 Champions Trophy and scored 218 runs in 5 matches to play his part in India's title win.
