Gujarat Titans (GT) were hit by a big blow in April as Kagiso Rabada left India due to personal reasons. It has turned out that Rabada was suspended for the use of a recreational drug. "As has been reported, I recently returned to South Africa from participating in the IPL for personal reasons. This was due to my returning an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug. I am deeply sorry to all those that I have let down. I will never take the privilege of playing cricket for granted. This privilege is much larger than me. It goes beyond my personal aspirations. I am serving a provisional suspension and I am looking forward to returning to the game I love playing," Rabada said in an official statement.
Rabada, the purple cap winner of IPL 2020, has returned to India and he can play for GT again. Rabada was in high demand in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and joined Gujarat Titans for a huge amount. Kagiso Rabada joined GT for a huge sum of Rs 10.75 crore.
GT invested heavily in Rabada at the mega-auction and his absence is a blow for them. He only played 2 matches before flying back. The right-arm pacer scalped 2 wickets before flying back.
Gujarat Titans at second spot
Gujarat Titans are in form in IPL 2025 and sit at the second spot in the points table. The Shubman Gill-led side has 7 wins from 10 matches. GT have suffered 3 defeats. They will face Mumbai Indians in their next game on May 6.
