Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their pooir form in the IPL 2025 as they suffered their 7th defeat of the IPL 2025 at the hands of Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, in what was a one-sided match. SRH were considered one of the favourite teams on paper to win the IPL 2025, and this defeat means that their road to qualify for the playoffs and finish in the final four becomes even more difficult.

Sunrisers Hyderabad now have 6 points from 10 games, and they have four more matches to play in the IPL 205. This mans that they can reach a maximum of 14 points if they win all their games.

Three teams are already on 14 points- Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. MI and GT have a match to play against each other, which means that at least one of these teams will go past this mark.

Punjab Kings are on 13 points, while Delhi Capitals are on 12 points . They have a match where they will play against each other, and hence, one of these teams will reach at least 14 points, 15 in the case of PBKS.

This means that in order to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs, SRH need to win all their matches, and ensure that the other teams which are on 14 points have a lesser Net Run Rate than them.

All these situations to come together might look mathematically possible, but practically, there is very little chance of all these happening. Hence, SRH have all but been knocked out of the IPL 2025. They will officially be knocked out if they lose any one of their remaining games.

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal have already been eliminated from the IPL 2025.
