Taijul Islam etched his name in the record books after taking a six-wicket haul against Zimbabwe in the ongoing second Test match between the two teams at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram as Bangladesh aim to level the series after a shock defeat in the series opener in Syhlet.
After the visitors won the toss and chose to bowl first, they were bowled out for 227 in the first session of play on Day 2. Taijul Islam was the star of the show for the home team with a six-wicket haul. The left-arm spinner took six wickets while giving away just 60 runs.
Taijul Islam Joins Muttiah Muralitharan And Waqar Younis To Rare Feat
With his incredible display, Taijul took the fifth five-wicket haul of his career against Zimbabwe, with all of them coming at home. During Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh in 2018, Taijul took three five-fors, including two in one match. Taijul's first five-for against the Chevrons came back in 2014.
The 33-year-old is only the third player in history to have five five-wicket hauls against Zimbabwe in Test cricket history, and the second spinner. He joins Muttiah Murliatharan and Waqar Younis as the only players to achieve the feat.

This was also the third six-wicket haul Taijul took against Zimbabwe in his career, which is the joint most by any player in history alongside Muralitharan. The Sri Lankan cricket legend also took five five-wicket hauls at home against Zimbabwe, like Taijul.
Taijul now has 49 wickets in his career against Zimbabwe, which is the third most in history. He went Chaminda Vaas (48) and Waqar Younis (48) on the elite list through the course of his stunning spell. Only Muralitharan (87) and Waqar (62) had more.
This is the 16th five-wicket haul of Taijul's career, which is the second most for a Bangladesh player behind Shakib Al Hasan (19).
