Vaibhav Suryavanshi (aged 14) and Ayush Mhatre (aged 17) are arguably the biggest stories of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) as the two players, who are yet to be officially adults and celebrate their 18th birthdays have impressed for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
While Suryavanshi has taken the big stage by storm after a record-breaking century against the Gujarat Titans (GT), Mhatre has also made a strong impression in his two appearances, the post being named an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad in the squad.
Fans will not have to wait long to see Suryavanshi and Mhatre back in action as they will be playing for the Indian U-19 team, which will travel to England in June parallel to the senior team, who are set to travel to the United Kingdom for a marquee five-match Test series.
According to a report by the Times of India, the Indian junior side will play five ODIs and two Tests against the home side. The team will reach England in late June. Alongside the senior and U-19 men's teams, the Indian women's cricket team as well as the mixed disability team will also be in England at that time.
This will be the first assignment for the U-19 team since the U-19 Asia Cup last year, where the Men in Blue lost the final. Both Suryavanshi and Mhatre were part of the squad and opened the batting for India. Mhatre made his debut for the Indian team (U-19) in that tournament and is yet to play red-ball cricket. Meanwhile, Suryavanshi debuted in a home series against Australia last year and has played two Tests and three ODIs for the junior national team.
The tour of England will see the Indian U-19 team amp up preparations for the 2026 U-19 World Cup, which will take place in Zimbabwe and Namibia early next year.
