Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a blazing hundred of just 30 balls to become the youngest player to score a century in the IPL during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Monday. Suryavanshi also broke the record for the fastest hundred in IPL history by an Indian. Earlier, he also eclipsed 15-year-old Afghanistan's Hassan Eisakhil to become the youngest to score a fifty in T20 cricket.
The innings were even more impressive because this was only his third IPL innings. The teenager began with a bang right from the first over when he smacked Mohammed Siraj for a six over long-on. Thereafter, he went after Ishant Sharma and took 28 off him. With six sixes and two fours, he raced to his half-ton in 17 balls, leaving GT shell-shocked.
When the powerplay came to an end, Suryavanshi had played 20 balls and attacked 14 of those, showing a perfect blend of intent and skill. But he did not stop there and kept smashing sixes at will before reaching the three-figure mark to become the youngest centurion in all representative cricket.
