Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have won seven of their ten games. According to former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, RCB have finally found their winning formula. Manjrekar made this statement a few days after excluding Virat Kohli from the only list that matters for batters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Manjrekar claimed that RCB's bowling has kept teams to a chaseable target and that they have had six different 'Player of the Matches' in seven games.
"RCB have finally found the winning formula. It’s not about one guy in the team. 7 wins, 6 different players of the match! (clap emojis)" Manjrekar wrote on X.
"4 off RCB’s 7 wins have come in chases. Targets 174, 175, 157 & 162. It’s their bowlers that have made the real difference this season!" he wrote in another post
Krunal Pandya was named the 'Player of the Match' for his undefeated 73 off 47 balls, which included five fours and four sixes, while Kohli received the orange cap after his 47-ball 51 took him to the top of the run-scoring charts. With nine balls and six wickets remaining, Krunal was instrumental in RCB crossing the finish line. He had earlier removed opener Faf du Plessis, who had made a comeback to the team following a groin injury.
Abishek Porel got off to a scorching start, but the RCB bowlers recovered effectively in the middle overs. Josh Hazlewood struck twice to earn the purple cap, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed three wickets. Suyash Sharma did not get any wickets but was highly economical with the ball, whereas Yash Dayal did not let Karun Nair relax. According to Manjrekar, the top four teams in the standings are those with the strongest bowling attacks.
Earlier, RCB defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs to snap their losing streak at home. After a somewhat lengthy hiatus, RCB will play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home on May 3. As of now, RCB has won seven games. They could set a record for the most away victories in an IPL season.
