  • RCB have won seven out of their 10 games
Rajat Patidar's dream start to his tenure as Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) captain continued on Sunday (April 27) as the Men in Red and Black rose to the top spot in the table after beating high-flying Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
In a battle between the second and third place teams in the table, RCB's stunning bowling display saw the home team manage to make a score of just 163 on the board, with KL Rahul (41 of 39) top scoring. The visitors were rocked early in the chase, they lost three wickets in four overs, including Patidar, who was run out after a mix-up with Virat Kohli.
However, Kohli continued his red-hot form with another half-century (51 of 47) while Krunal Pandya (73 of 47) scored his first half-century in the IPL in nine years as he remained unbeaten to seal a six-wicket win with Tim David ensuring a quick finish.
This victory means that RCB have now won each of their six away games in the season so far and are one victory away from completing an unprecedented 100% win success rate on the road in a season.

RCB, Rajat Patidar Creates History

In a season played in a home-away model, the Patidar-led team are only the fifth team in history, after Kolkata Knight Riders (2012), Mumbai Indians (2012), and Delhi Capitals (2012), to win six or more away games in a season. RCB are only the second team after the Titans, led by Hardik Pandya in 2023, to win six games in a season with 14 league games (7 away matches).
Best Away Records In An IPL Season (Playoffs Not Included)
Team Captain Year Played Won Loss
Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir 2012 8 7 1
Mumbai Indians Harbhajan Singh 2012 8 7 1
Delhi Daredevils Virender Sehwag 2012 8 6 2
Gujarat Titans Hardik Pandya 2023 7 6 0
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Rajat Patidar 2025 6 6 0
Patidar's men are the first team in history to win each of their first six away games and the second team after Gautam Gambhir-led KKR in 2012 to win six matches in a row on the road. Infact, the King's Riders had won seven games in a row on their way to the maiden title win. However, RCB are the only team to win six in a row in a season when teams play only seven games away from home in a season.
Meanwhile, this is also RCB's best-ever away run in an IPL season in the league stage. Previously, they won five games on the road in the 2012 (Daniel Vettori/ Virat Kohli's captaincy) and 2015 (Virat Kohli's captaincy) seasons.
Patidar has the joint best record after first 10 games as RCB captain alongside Daniel Vettori and Virat Kohli, who also had seven victories to show for.
