Faf du Plessis, the Delhi Capitals' vice-captain, has recovered in time for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which is a huge boost for the team. Due to a groin injury, Du Plessis was unable to play in several previous games. At Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, he will play against his old team.
"He's available tomorrow from my understanding. He should be available for selection," Jake Fraser-McGurk said on April 26.
On April 10, Du Plessis made his final appearance for DC against RCB. He left for a single-digit score as an impact player. He had previously hit 29 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and then half a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Du Plessis will be playing his first at DC's original home ground. With the return of the former South Africa captain, Karun Nair might have to give up the starting position. The Proteas batter might open with Abhishek Porel. Depending on the matchups, Nair might bat at number three or number four.
The Axar Patel-led team defeated the RCB by six wickets the last time they faced one other in Bengaluru. The DC top order fell apart during the run chase of 164, but Rahul kept his record at 93 off 53 balls to lead his team home with 13 balls remaining. Tristan Stubbs, who scored 38 runs off of 23 balls, assisted him.
With six victories in their last eight games, DC is now ranked second in the standings. They will take the top spot back if they defeat RCB.
