Novak Djokovic Drops Massive Retirement Hint After First Round Defeat To Matteo Arnaldi At Madrid Open: AP

Novak Djokovic suffered yet another first-round defeat as he bowed out of the Madrid Open after losing to Matteo Arnaldi 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 64. Djokovic also made a huge remark and hinted that this might be the last of him at the Madrid Open.
The veteran opened up about his form and fitness struggles and said he may not be the favourite at French Open. “I didn’t have high expectations here. I just hoped to play one more match than in Monte Carlo. It’s weird, I wasn’t used to approaching these tournaments like this over the last 20 years. It’s the cycle of life. I won’t be one of the main favorites at Roland Garros. Maybe that will help me, I don’t know,” Djokovic said at the press conference.
Djokovic further spoke about the changes he is experiencing in his game and said it is a reality he needs to accept. “Things are different, obviously, with my strokes, with my body, with my movement. It’s the reality that I have to accept. I’ll try to make the most out of these new circumstances that I have, particularly at Grand Slams, where it counts the most for me.”

Djokovic Chasing 100th Career Title

Since his win at the Paris Olympics, Djokovic has been on a hunt for his 100th title. He reached the final of the ATP Miami but lost to Jakub Mensik. He also lost to Alejandro Tabilo in the first round at the Monte Carlo Masters. The defeat against Arnaldi has extended his wait for the 100th career title.
