Mumbai Indians (MI) picked up pace after a sluggish start to the IPL 2025 with four back-to-back wins. The team is settled at fourth position in the points table with five wins in nine games, but the playoff berth is far from sealed. The points table looks packed, and barring Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), all teams are in the fray to qualify.

MI's next game is against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium, and the team would be keen to seek revenge for the previous defeat at the Ekana Stadium earlier in the season. Ahead of the crucial game on April 27, Rohit Sharma shared a lighthearted moment with LSG pacer Shardul Thakur.

Rohit poked fun at Thakur for arriving late for the practice session. “Kya re hero, abhi aa raha hai, ghar ka team hai kya? (Hey, hero, you're coming now? Is this your home?” Rohit was heard saying, drawing laughter from teammates and fans online alike.

Rohit Back To His Vintage Best

Rohit did not play the previous fixture against the LSG, but he is up and running after scoring back-to-back 70s against the CSK and SRH, respectively. Rohit was struggling to score runs and get MI off to a good start, but the last two matches have provided enough evidence about his return to form. An in-form Rohit Sharma makes a lot of difference to the MI team, and it was evident from the results against CSK and SRH, where MI chased their targets with about five overs to spare.

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur was signed by LSG as a replacement for injured Mohsin Khan. Thakur has been exceptional for LSG and is currently the top wicket-taker for the franchise with 12 wickets in nine games of IPL 2025.
