Rohit Sharma continued his redemption in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) after a nightmare start to the season that saw him score just 82 runs in the first six matches by scoring a half-century in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their fourth win in row with a thumping seven-wicket victory which came with 26 balls to spare.
After a match-winning knock of 76 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (April 20) at the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit shut down any concerns over his form with a 46-ball 70 in a knock that included eight boundaries and three sixes as MI chased down a total of 144 comfortably.

With his masterclass against SRH, Rohit hit back-to-back half-centuries in the IPL for the first time since the 2016 season. The then MI skipper achieved the feat twice in the 10th edition of the tournament with 50+ scores in consecutive innings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (62*) and Delhi Daredevils (65), as well as Kolkata Knight Riders (68*), and Rising Pune Supergiants (85*). The match against Pune on 1st May 2016 was 3279 days ago.
Overall, Rohit has achieved the feat for the seventh time in his career having done so each in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 season to.. Moreover, it is also the first time since moving to hhe opening spot that the Indian cricket legend has managed to score a half-century in back-to-back outings with the bat in the IPL.
While Rohit is the IPL's joint-most successful captain and decorated player, his record with the bat is underwhelming. Infact, his tally of 489 runs in 2016 is the second-highest in his career in the world's richest league behind 2013 campaign in which he made 538 runs.
Since the 2016 season, not only did Rohit not make half-centuries in back-to-back games, he also crossed the 400-run mark just twice and averaged above 30 till the 2024 campaign.
So far, he has 228 runs in eight innings at an average of 32.57 and strike-rate of 154.05.
