The 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United on Wednesday (April 23) saw tempers flare as Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed was called out for chucking by Colin Munro in an unprecedented situation when the batter directly called out the bowler instead of the umpires or match officials questioning the bowler.

The incident happened in the 10th over of United's run chase after the third ball of the over. Iftikhar fired a yorker, which Munro succesfully defended. However, the New Zealand batter was not content with the delivery from the off-spinner and claimed his action was illegal

For those unversed, a bowler is allowed to straighten his arm beyond a set limit of 15 degrees celcius.

Post Munro's objection at Ifktikhar, the Pakistan star lost his cool, triggering a war of words before the umpires intervened. Rizwan, who is the captain of Iftikhar's side, Sultans also intervened and reportedly asked Munro to continue batting. The umpires also played down the situation and resumed the match. It remains to be seen if Iftikhar's action is investigated after the match.

Munro was dismissed in the next over after making a 28-ball 45 by Michael Bracewell, with Ifthikar being in the heat of the action by taking the catch.

Munro's knock played a key role in ensuring the Islamabad-led side won the match by seven wickets with 17 balls to spare while chasing a total of 169. Wicket-keeper batter Andries Gous, who opened the batting for the defending champions, was the star of the show with an unbeaten knock of 80 in 45 balls

Earlier, Sultans posted a total of 168 on the board in a repeat of last year's final. Usman Khan top-scored with a 40-ball 61 while Rizwan played a tedious knock of 36 in 37 balls.

Ifitkhar made 10 runs in eight balls before bowling two overs and giving away 20 runs without taking a wicket.

The result means United have five wins in as many games this season are on top of the table while Sultans are in last place with one win in five games.
