Virat Kohli's Instagram Story On Pahalgam Terrorist Attack Goes Viral (Source: BCCI/IPL/PTI)
India suffered one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in recent times after over 27 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam were shot dead. The attack was claimed by the Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), according to central agency sources.
Virat Kohli took to Instagram and condemned the attack. Kohli joined the long list of the Indian cricket fraternity who expressed shock at the incident and demanded brutal punishment for the culprits. "Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength of the families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act," wrote Kohli on Instagram.
BCCI Makes Big Move After Pahalgam Mayhem
Meanwhile, the players and officials will wear black armbands during the Sunrisers Hyderabad - Mumbai Indians IPL match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The BCCI has also decided that no cheerleaders will perform during the match today, and there won't be any fireworks. The decision was taken in respect to the people who lost their lives in the barbaric attack.
Pahalgam Attack A Setback To India vs Pakistan Cricket Ties
Terrorism has severely impacted the cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. The bilateral ties between the countries were cut off after the deadly 26/11 attack in Mumbai. Recently, there has been a debate about keeping politics away from sport and restoring the cricketing ties; however, attacks such as these have put all debates to rest. It's crystal clear that any sporting relationship with Pakistan cannot proceed without eliminating terrorism.
The recent attack has drawn strong reactions, and there could be a possibility in future that India might avoid playing Pakistan in ICC events as well.
