Tourists at Pahalgam's picturesque Baisaran meadow were shot at by the assailants, who were thought to be members of The Resistance Front, a branch of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The incident is being characterized as India's biggest civilian attack since the terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008.

"Just read about the horrific and shocking terrorist attack in Pahalgam. To target and kill innocent civilians in the name of religion is pure evil... No cause, no belief, no ideology can ever justify such a monstrous act," Siraj said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"Yeh kaisi ladai hai. Jahaan insaan ki jaan ki koi keemat hi nah (What kind of fight is this? Where there is no value to a human life?).

"I can't even begin to imagine the pain and trauma the families must be going through.. May the families find the strength to survive this unbearable grief. We are so sorry for your loss. I hope this madness ends soon and these terrorists are found and punished, without mercy," Siraj added.

Witnesses reported that the terrorists fired at people sitting at food stalls, riding horses, and having picnics after emerging from the nearby pine forests. The majority of the victims were tourists, including two locals and two foreigners from Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.

The umpires and players from both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will be wearing armbands throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) match. They will also observe a one-minute silence. Additionally, during the game at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, there will not be any pyrotechnics or cheerleaders dancing.
