The whole of India was shaken when over 27 innocent tourists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, as they were gunned down by terrorists on Tuesday (April 23). The aftershock of this incident will even be felt during the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians that is set to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
According to BCCI sources, the players of both teams, and the umpires on the field will be wearing black armbands in remembrance of the victims of the heinous act of terrorism in Pahalgam. There will be no fireworks during the game, and cheerleaders, too, will not be performing. There will also be a one-minute silence before the match begins.
“The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the berieved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy," said BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Virat Kohli Condemns Pahalgam Attack

Star India batter Virat Kohli posted an elaborate story on his Instagram account where he condemned the attack in Pahalgam. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He also demanded punishment for the people responsible for this cruel act.
"Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength of the families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act," Kohli wrote on his Insta Story.

Will India Vs Pakistan Cricket Be Affected?

Several reports have stated that there is a hand of Pakistan behind the terrorist attack at Pahalgam, even though the country has vehemently denied it. Now, there are also calls to stop any form of cricket between the two countries, as evident from a post on X by former cricketer Shreevats Goswami.
India and Pakistan had stopped playing each for more than four years after the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. There is a strong possibility that such a situation may arise after the Pahalgam incident as well.
