In the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has openly questioned his country's silence and indirect response to the tragic incident on Wednesday.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kaneria launched a scathing attack on Islamabad, explicitly calling out Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for not issuing a public condemnation.

"If Pakistan truly has no role in the Pahalgam terror attack, why hasn't Prime Minister @CMShehbaz condemned it yet? Why are your forces suddenly on high alert? Because deep down, you know the truth — you're sheltering and nurturing terrorists. Shame on you," wrote former cricketer Danish Kaneria on X.

Earlier, another former Pakistan cricket star, Mohammad Hafeez, expressed his sorrow over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 44-year-old wrote a brief message: "Sad & heartbroken #PahalgamTerroristAttack." However, his reaction sparked a wave of reactions from netizens that ranged from grief to rage.

India's sporting fraternity has also condemned the attack. Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli expressed shock as they mourned the loss of lives. On the other hand, former India cricketer Shreevats Goswami wrote a strongly-worded post, demanding an end to all sporting ties with Pakistan.

The Pahalgam attack occurred on Tuesday when terrorists opened fire at a prime tourist location in south Kashmir's Pahalgam. At least 26 people succumbed to death, resulting in heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. It is the deadliest terrorist act in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike.
