Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie has filed a complaint against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over non-payment. Gillespie was appointed as the Pakistan Test coach in 2024 for a two-year term; however, he also mentored the team in the ODI series against Australia following the resignation of Gary Kirsten. Gillespie, though, stepped down ahead of the South Africa tour in December, eight months after taking over, citing differences with the board.

According to a report in tribune.pk, Gillespie said that PCB owes him a salary and a bonus for the Test series win over England and the ODI series win in Australia. Reportedly, Gillespie has brought the matter to ICC's attention, however, it is not confirmed if ICC has any rights to mediate in the issues.

Earlier, Gillespie shared a video on his Instagram with Pakistan media where he confirmed that PCB owes him money: “Yes, without going into details. I’m still waiting on some remuneration from work that’s being done. So I’ll just navigate through that in due course,” Gillespie told PakPassion.

However, PCB denied the claims and said that Gillespie breached the contract by stepping down without serving the notice period.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues. The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms. The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it," the PCB media statement read.

Meanwhile, the PCB is looking for a new coach for the Pakistan cricket team and a director of its high-performance centre in Lahore. Aqib Javed, who is serving as an interim coach, is reportedly interested in taking over as the director of the high-performance center, leaving the coach's slot vacant.
