KL Rahul continued his stunning debut at Delhi Capitals (DC) with another match-winning half-century against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday (April 22) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. in what was the first instance of him playing against his former side.
Chasing a total of 160, Rahul walked out to bat at number three after Karun Nair's (15 of 9) dismissal in the fourth over. The 33-year-old ensured that LSG cruised to the target as he put up a 79-run partnership with Abhishek Porel (51 of 36). Later, he and Axar Patel (34 of 20) put up an unbeaten 56-run stand as the Capitals won the match by eight wickets with 13 balls to spare to register their sixth win of the season in eight games.
Rahul a knock of 57 in 42 balls. Interestingly, this was Rahul's third half-century of the season and all have come in away games and while batting in different positions.
KL Rahul Creates History
Through the course of his knock, Rahul completed 5000 runs in his IPL career. The star Indian batter is the quickest to reach the milestone and the first to do it within 130 innings. He broke a record set by David Warner in the 2020 season.

Meanwhile, Rahul has the best average among players to score more than 5000 runs (46.25) his IPL career and the only one with one above 45. Infact, Warner is the only other player in the elite list averaging above 40 with Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers close. However, Rahul's strike rate is the fifth-best in the 5000 runs IPL club.
