KL Rahul, who reportedly had a fallout with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka, will face his former team in Lucknow on Tuesday, with the air thick with tension. Rahul, who has revived himself at Delhi Capitals (DC), is now a crucial cog in the team and is reportedly helping his new side with insider information, which many on social media are calling a "silent revenge."
DC’s breakout star of the season, Vipraj Nigam, confirmed that Rahul has been helping the team prepare for the clash with LSG and is also helping the youngsters in the team with his valuable inputs.
"Rahul bhaiya helps, especially since he's played with some players who were part of Lucknow last year and are still with them this year. So in our team meetings, we definitely discuss that-it really helps when someone has that insight about the opposition's bowlers and batters," revealed 2025 sensation Vipraj Nigam.
"I get advice from the seniors in every game. We do get some help from the seniors. There are some players who were in Lucknow last year and are here this year as well. We talk about those aspects in our team meetings and plan accordingly," added the young spinner.
Last season, KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants, had a controversial moment when cameras showed them arguing on the field after LSG lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul was reportedly upset about this and was not retained by the team, even after leading LSG for three years.
Later, in an interaction on the TRS Podcast, Goenka said that the spat was just an expression of his sentiment. "Mere dil se toh main itna hi kahunga ke izzat bhi hai aur pyaar bhi hai (I have nothing but respect and love for him)," said the 64-year-old.
Goenka had also said that Rahul was like family to him. "KL Rahul has always been family for me and he will remain that way. He captained Lucknow for three years and have shown great results during his tenure. I genuinely wish for his good, no matter what happens," said the LSG owner.
"Shareef insan hai (He is a good person)," said Goenka while talking about Rahul. "He is a very honest person and I wish that everything good happens to a honest person like him. He is also very talented and I wish he displays his talent to the world. I am very sure he will do well. My best wishes are with him," he added.
