Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host Axar Patel's Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 40th match of IPL 2025. This will be KL Rahul's first game against LSG. He was LSG's first pick during the IPL 2022 pre-auction draft. Rahul joined LSG for a hefty amount and led them in 3 seasons. LSG picked Rahul for a huge amount of Rs 17 crore. The amount made him the joint-highest-paid player in IPL's history, along with Virat Kohli. He earned the same amount for 3 seasons.
Back in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Rahul was in high demand but he couldn't breach the 15-crore mark. He joined DC for Rs 14 crore. He reportedly denied the captaincy at DC.
LSG's performance under Rahul
Rahul-led LSG made a memorable debut and qualified for the second round of IPL 2022. Rahul suffered an injury during IPL 2023 and he was ruled out of the second half of the season. Krunal Pandya propelled LSG to the second round. Rahul's LSG crashed out of the league stage of IPL 2024. LSG didn't retain him before the IPL 2025 mega-auction. They spent heavily on Rishabh Pant and signed him for Rs 27 crore.
