Rajasthan Royals suffered their sixth defeat of the IPL 2025 campaign in a nerve-wracking match against the Lucknow Super Giants at their home ground of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Even in this loss, there was one bright spot in the form of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made his debut in the IPL at just 14 years old. He even impressed with the bat as he played an attacking knock opening the batting in the absence of injured Sanju Samson. After getting out, he was left completely heartbroken.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 34 from 20 balls in an innings studded with 2 fours and 3 sixes. He also stitched an 85-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal. He was dismissed due to a sharp bit of work behind the stumps from Rishabh Pant, who stumped him off a delivery from Aiden Markram.

After getting dismissed on his IPL debut, the young Suryavanshi was left heartbroken. While walking back into the pavillion, the left-handed batter was seen crying heavily as he wiped his tears.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi at 14 years and 23 days becomes the youngest player to ever play in an IPL match. In fact, he is now the first player born after the IPL began 18 years ago to feature in a match in the league. Suryavanshi breaks the record of Prayas Ray Burman who made his debut for RCB in IPL 2019 at the age of 16.

He also hit a six in the first ball of his IPL debut. He overtook Riyan Parag to become the youngest player to hit a six in the history of the IPL.

At the age of just 13, he was roped in for Rs 1.10 crore by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 auction, thus becoming the youngest-ever player to be bought in the IPL auction.
