Rohit Sharma etched his name in the history books during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (Paduring a quick-fire knock of 26 in 16 balls.
While Rohit failed to get a big score once again, he gave the five-time champions a quick start as they walked out to chase a total of 163 on a sluggish pitch in Mumbai. The ex-MI skipper's knock included three sixes, which saw him set a unique record.
Rohit Sharma's Historic Feat At Wankhede
The first maximum Rohit hit against SRH of Mohammed Shami's bowling was his 100th at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This makes him the first batter in the world to hit a century of maximums at the iconic ground. Rohit is the fourth player in IPL history to hit 100 or more sixes at a single venue in the league's history after Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Rohit is also the first to achieve the feat outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Rohit also completed 250 sixes (in all competitions) for the Mumbai Indians during the match. He is only the second MI player to achieve the feat after Kieron Pollard, who hit 259 maximums for the franchise. Suryakumar Yadav (122), Hardik Pandya (115), Ishan Kishan (106) are the only other players to hit more than 100 sixes for the Men in Blue and Gold.
Rohit has struggled for runs in the 2025 IPL with just 82 runs in six innings so far at an average of 13.66. The knock of 26 was his highest this season so far.
