Rajasthan Royals suffered their fifth defeat of IPL 2025, as Delhi Capitals won the thrilling contest via a Super Over in the second match of the IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Sanju Samson is leading the RR side as they aim to chase down 189. The captain was to play a crucial role as he opened the innings, and he did get off to a good start. However, he failed to continue as he had to leave the game mid-way after getting retired hurt. He has thus managed to create a bit of unwanted history.
Sanju Samson tried to cut a ball from Vipraj Nigam in the 6th over of the game but missed. He appeared to pull his rib muscles as called the physios in pain. He did play a delivery after that but continued to seethe in pain as he left the ground after being retired hurt. Samson was batting at 31 from 19 balls when this happened.
Samson now becomes the first Rajasthan Royals player in history to get retired hurt in the IPL. He becomes the second captain after Krunal Pandya to get retired hurt in the league.

Delhi Capitals Seal Thrilling Win
After being put in to bat first, Delhi Capitals scored 188 for the loss of 5 wickets. While Abhishek Porel gave them a good start with a 49-run knock, Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs provided some late momentum, with both playing quick-fire knocks of 34.
Riding on half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana, Rajasthan Royals also scored 188 as the match went into the Super Over. The Royals could only manage to score 11 runs, as Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul scored 12 runs in just 4 balls of their Super over to seal a win.
