Delhi Capitals (DC) wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul made a huge blunder during the IPL 2025 match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The incident unfolded in the 16th over of RR's 189-run chase. On the penultimate ball, Dhruv Jurel was given out LBW by the on-field umpire. With Nitish Rana at the other end, Rahul signalled to Kuldeep that the ball had hit his shoulder and might miss the stumps. This prompted Jurel and Rana to go for a review. As it turned out, the ball was missing the stumps, and Jurel survived.

With 44 needed in last four overs and six wickets in hand, RR were clear favourites to win the game.; however, brilliant death bowling by Mitchell Starc, which saw him defend nine in the last over, forced the match into the Super Over. Starc was also brilliant in the Super Over and restricted RR to 11 runs. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs came out to bat for the Capitals and finished the chase on the fourth delivery. This was DC's fourth win in the Super Over, the most by any team in IPL history. It also took DC to the top of the table with five wins in six matches.

Meanwhile, the defeat has significantly dented RR's chances of qualifying for the playoffs. The Sanju Samson-led side slipped to eighth on the points table, with two wins in seven games. They had a great opportunity to pull one back against DC, but they messed up the chase. The team now needs to win most of the remaining games to qualify for the playoffs.
