IPL continues to thrill as PSL spills in the first week.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has well and truly arrived after a blockbuster start to the fourth week, with Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni (26 off 11) turning back the clock and finishing things off in style against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday, April 14, 2025. The following day saw Kolkata Knight Riders bowl out Punjab Kings for a paltry 111, only to find themselves precariously placed at 79 for 8, having lost six wickets for 17 runs, and eventually ending 16 short of the target. If two cliffhangers were not enough, the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, went right down to the wire with nothing to separate both teams after their allotted quota of overs. The match was decided in a super-over as Delhi Capitals managed to hold on to their nerves, winning it with two balls to spare.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL), which kicked off this week, failed to live up to the hype, with all matches turning out to be a one-sided affair. Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets in the first match of the tournament, while Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings won their respective matches quite comfortably against Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans.

While almost all the stadiums have had a decent turnout in the IPL, the same cannot be said for the PSL. The lack of spectators in most of the venues in Pakistan have made the Pakistan Cricket Board's work cut out in the weeks to come. Intending to increase fan engagement and bring crowds back to the stadium, PSL has taken several initiatives, with one lucky fan expected to win a motorcycle through a lucky draw in every match.
The Indian Premier League (IPL), on the other hand, has expanded the Fan Park initiative with its presence now in 50 Indian cities. These fan parks offer a community viewing experience to fans along with food, music, and other entertainment options. With more fan engagement, the IPL is going to get better and bigger in the years to come.
