Sunil Narine created history during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Kolkata Knight RIders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) and set an all-time record after he took the wickets of Suryansh Shedge and Marco Jansen in a stunning spell that saw him take two wickets and give away just 14 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur in New Chandigarh on Tuesday (April 15).
Narine, who has an exceptional record in his IPL career against the franchise, helped the Ajinkya Rahane-led side bowl out the hosts for just 111 runs. This is the third time this season that KKR have restricted a team for a score of 120 or less this season, and the second match in a row.
Sunil Narine Creates History
Narine now has 36 wickets against PBKS in his IPL career, which is the most by a player against a simple team. He is the first player to take more than 35 wickets against the same opponent in the league's history. Narine broke Umesh Yadav's record, who had 34 wickets against PBKS in his IPL career.

Narine has been a key reason behind KKR's dominance over PBKS. The victory in tonight's clash will mark the 22nd time that the Kolkata-based franchise has beaten the Punjab-based side, which is the second-highest number of times one team has beaten another (22) behind Mumbai Indians (24 vs KKR).
During his legendary IPL, Narine has one five-wicket haul, which came against PBKS (then Kings XI Punjab) in his debut season in 2012 at Eden Gardens. One of Narine's seven four-wicket hauls in the league also came against the same opponent in 2015.
Earlier in the tournament, Narine had etched his name in the history books by completing 200 wickets for KKR in all competitions. He is the only player to achieve the feat for one team among IPL franchises and second in the world in T20 cricket behind Samit Patel (Nottinghamshire).
