Pakistan faced a new low as they suffered a whitewash defeat to New Zealand by a margin of 3-0 in the recently concluded ODI series. Their performances were pretty bad in these three games on the field. Off the field as well, the Men in Green had a torrid time, as Khushdil Shah courted some controversy. After the end of the 3rd NZ vs PAK ODI at Mount Maunganui, the all-rounder had a heated argument with two fans in the stands, and had to be held back by security to prevent the situation from going out of hand. While he has received backlash for his outburst, PCB has stood by Khushdil Shah.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released an official statement where they have claimed that Afghan spectators hurled inappropriate comments at the Pakistan players on the field. However, they crossed limits when they shouted anti-Pakistan slogans. This angered Khushdil Shah, who stepped in and urged the unruly spectators to refrain. They have severely condemned this unruly behaviour by the fans at the venue

“The Pakistan cricket team management has strongly condemned the abusive language directed at national players by foreign spectators. During the match today, foreign spectators hurled inappropriate remarks at cricketers present on the field. When anti-Pakistan slogans emerged, cricketer Khushdil Shah stepped in and urged the spectators to refrain," the statement read.

The statement further said that the spectators continued to hurl abusive words in Pashto to Khushdil Shah. The PCB then claimed that the stadium officials intervened and ejected both spectators from the stadium/

''In response, Afghan spectators escalated the situation by using further inappropriate language in Pashto. Following the Pakistani team’s complaint, stadium officials intervened and ejected the two disruptive spectators," the PCB claimed.
