Kolkata Knight Riders absolutely decimated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided encounter at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 3 (Thursday) by 80 runs. This has proved to be a massive confidence-boosting win for KKR, who had come into the game on the back of a thumping 8-wicket loss against Mumbai Indians. This win has now pushed KKR on the points table. SRH on the other hand, look in deep trouble after losing three back-to-back matches.

KKR came into the game as the last-placed side in the points table after the defeat to MI. However, they have now moved five places up to 5th spot, with 4 points on the board and a Net Run Rate of 0.070. They have now gone above Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the points table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have dropped down to the 10th spot with just 2 points on the board.

SRH got off to a great start as captain Pat Cummins took the wicket of Quinton de Kock in the 2nd over of the innings. In the very next over, Mohammed Shami took the wicket of Sunil Narine. After these two early wickets, Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi got KKR back into the game with a half-century partnership for the fourth wicket. Rahane departed after scoring 38. Raghuvanshi then went on to slam a half-century, departing to Kamindu Mendis immediately after.

After that Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer went on to stitch a fifty-run stand, bringing KKR back to the game. Iyer went on to slam his first fifty of the campaign.The Knight Riders went on to post 200/6 at the end of the innings.

KKR bowlers were all over the SRH batters right from the onset. They bundled them out for 120 in the second innings, with Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy taking three wickets each. Andre Russell also chipped in with 2 wickets.
