1983 World Cup winner and former Indian cricketer Madan Lal reacted to Sanjiv Goenka’s confrontation with Rishabh Pant following LSG's defeat to PBKS in the IPL 2025 match.
This was after the incident led to widespread discussion when images of Goenka engaging in what appeared to be a tense conversation with Pant went viral online. It also drew comparisons to a similar interaction last year, where the LSG owber had a heated discussion with the then LSG skipper KL Rahul. Addressing the controversy, Madan Lal underlined the importance of allowing players to perform freely without pressure.
"I don’t know the discussion between Rishab and Mr Sanjiv’s Goenka. All this can happen inside. Let boys enjoy the game let them play freely.20/20 cricket very unpredictable."
Earlier, when the IPL began as well, after the first game of the tournament against Delhi Capitals (DC), Goenka was seen having a long discussion with his captain.
Meanwhile, Pant, whom the Sanjiv Goenka-owned Lucknow Super Giants bought for a mind-blowing Rs 27 crore fee, looked dejected after the loss against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025.
Pant had no option but to admit that his team was at least 25 runs short on that track and they were "not good enough" to win it on the day.
"It was not enough, we were 20-25 runs short. That is part and parcel of the game - our first home game, so still assessing the conditions. We were not good enough on the day," Pant said.
