Kagiso Rabada is not part of the Gujarat Titans' (GT) playing XI for the big clash against Royal Challengers Benglauru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday (April 2). Shubman Gill revealed that Rabada had been replaced by Arshad Khan in the playing XI as the visitors are fielding just two overseas players in their playing XI, while either of Sherfane Rutherford or Glenn Phillips is expected to come on as an impact sub.
Gill revealed that Rabada is missing due to personal reasons. However, there is no mention of Gerald Coetzee's absence, as the 2022 champions decided not to replace the South African with another pacer from his own country.
GT have decided to bowl first in their first away game. RCB have made no changes to their playing XI for their first home game of the season.
Rabada was purchased by GT for Rs. 10.75 crore in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. He took two wickets in the first two matches of the season for the Titans.
While Rabada's absence comes as a big blow, Arshad's inclusion proved a masterstroke as he dismissed Virat Kohli in the second over of the match after he made just seven runs.
RCB lost two wickets in the first three overs as Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for four runs in three balls by Mohammed Siraj.
