Andre Russell had yet another below-par outing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when the defending champions faced Mumbai Indians (MI) in an away game on Sunday (March 31). The star all-rounder only managed to score 5 off 11 balls. He was bowled by MI debutant, Ashwani Kumar. He has only managed to score 9 runs in the ongoing season.
Russell joined Gautam Gambhir in an elite list despite his flop show against MI. He has become the third batsman to score 2500 runs for the Kolkata-based franchise. Russell has 2500 runs in 107 innings for the three-time IPL Champions.
He joined the franchise in 2014 and has been with them since then. KKR retained him before the IPL 2018, 2022 and 2025 mega-auctions.
Batsmen with most runs for KKR
Gautam Gambhir tops the list of batsmen with the most runs for KKR. The former KKR opener finished his career with 3345 runs in 122 matches. Gambhir scored 3035 runs for KKR in the IPL. He joined the franchise in the IPL 2011 mega-auction and stayed with KKR till IPL 2017. KKR ended their title drought under him and won the IPL 2012 trophy. They emulated their heroics in 2014.
Robin Uthappa sits at the second spot. He joined the team in 2014 and stayed with them till 2019. The former KKR vice-captain scored 2649 runs in 91 matches. Uthappa went on to play for Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings after being released by KKR.
Russell sits at the third spot. He is followed by Nitish Rana (2199) and Yusuf Pathan (2061), respectively. Nitish now plays for Rajasthan Royals.
KKR struggling in IPL 2025
With only one win from 3 matches, KKR are reeling at the last spot in the points table. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side has only managed 2 points at a below-par NRR of -1.428.
