Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday ordered an inquiry into Sunrisers Hyderabad's allegations against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Sunrisers Hyderabad has sought the intervention of cricket governing bodies to halt the recurring "blackmailing tactics" by HCA.
The state unit, however, denied the charges by the franchise.
"Chief Minister has ordered Vigilance Chief Kothakota Srinivas to inquire into allegations. He has asked Srinivas to initiate stern action on HCA members if found guilty," the source said.
In a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council, Sunrisers Hyderabad alleged that the HCA was "threatening" the franchise, primarily for more complimentary tickets (free passes). The franchise also stated that it would consider shifting its its home matches to another state if the issue persisted.
"All these unprofessional threats and actions by HCA, especially by the HCA president, make it evident that you don't want Sunrisers to play at your stadium. If that is the case, please let me know in writing so that we can inform BCCI, the Telangana government, and our management that you wish for us to move to another venue, and we will move," Srinath TB, the general manager of SRH, wrote in the email.
Meanwhile, HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao denied all allegations, saying that no such demands were made to the franchise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have threatened to move out of Hyderabad and may not play their IPL 2025 matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, according to a report.
The 2016 winners have played two matches at their home venue in Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025.
