MS Dhoni's reputation of taking astute DRS calls was called into question by a recent analysis by Grok AI. The AI's findings It also sparked controversy within the cricket world, after suggesting that Rishabh Pant has a significantly higher rate of incorrect Decision Review System (DRS) calls than other Indian wicketkeepers.
The analysis stemmed from a query by a cricket fan on Twitter, prompting Grok AI to delve into the available data and generate its response based on that.
"Rishabh Pant likely has the most incorrect DRS calls among Indian wicketkeepers, with reports citing multiple failed review suggestions, like in the 2019 T20I vs Bangladesh. MS Dhoni, despite a 41-43% success rate, has average accuracy, not exceptional. Data is limited, but Pant stands out for errors." - Grok AI responded to a query by a cricket fan on Twitter.

According to Cricviz, Dhoni's captaincy in matches that use the Decision Review System (DRS) has mostly happened in the IPL. Out of his 22 decisions, he has made nine correct calls. This means he has a success rate of 41 per cent, which is just average.
Recently, Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary also claimed that though Dhoni is close to accuracy, his getting the DRS calls right isn't always the case. "That's not always the case (Dhoni being right). Sometimes, it's the other way around, but he's close to accuracy. He has a lot of ideas about the game," umpire Chaudhary told Shubhankar Mishra during a chat on the latter's YouTube channel.
That said, the Decision Review System (DRS) has helped improve the game. Former ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said that DRS enabled umpires to attain a staggering accuracy rate of 98.5 per cent.
While these revelations might ignite a debate among cricket enthusiasts and analysts, the AI's findings certainly challenge the perception of Dhoni's infallible judgment and highlight the need for further scrutiny of Pant's DRS decisions.
