Ambati Rayudu mocked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and took a 'laughter' jibe at them during an interaction with Subramaniam Badrinath on his YouTube channel. Rayudu recently took a 'below the belt' dig at RCB and there was no stopping him as mocked them again. A six-time IPL winner, Rayudu never played for RCB.
Speaking to Badrinath, Rayudu said: "I mean purely as a fan and purely as someone who had really good laughter looking at them over the years because of what they do to themselves. I would want them to win sometime, but not this year, maybe because we want CSK also to really do well and win it. Yeah, in the end, it is like, okay, RCB, we need someone like that in the IPL."
RCB have been part of IPL since its inception but they have never won the elusive trophy. They have played 3 IPL finals - in 2009, 2011 and 2016. Virat Kohli captained RCB for a long time but could never lead them to a title glory. Virat-led RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2016 final.
Rayudu's 6 IPL titles
Rayudu kicked off his IPL career with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2010. He was part of the Rohit Sharma-led MI which won the IPL titles in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Rayudu moved to Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2018 mega-auction.
CSK made a memorable return to IPL and lifted the trophy in 2018. They emulated their heroics in 2021 and 2023. Before the start of the IPL 2023 final, Rayudu announced his retirement and he quit the game after winning the elusive trophy.
He took up commentary after his retirement and is a regular in the commentary box. The right-handed batsman played 55 ODIs and 6 T20Is. He was part of the Test team but didn't get his debut cap.
