Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are squaring off in the first El Clasico of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (March 23). CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first. Khaleel Ahmed, who joined CSK in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, proved his captain's call right by dismissing Rohit Sharma on the very third ball of the innings.

The former MI captain was caught by Shivam Dube for a duck and he took the long walk back to the pavilion early in the innings. Rohit now has 18 ducks in IPL. He has been playing the league since its inception.

Rohit Sharma created an unwanted record and he now holds the record for being the batsman with joint-most ducks in IPL. He shares the top spot with Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik. Both the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stars have 18 ducks each.

Maxwell is still active in IPL and will be seen in action for Punjab Kings. Karthik retired from Indian cricket after IPL 2024 and he is now part of RCB's coaching staff.

Rohit has often struggled with the bat in IPL and his early wicket left MI in a spot of bother. Khaleel struck once again and dismissed Ryan Rickelton on the second ball of his second over.

Suryakumar Yadav is leading Mumbai Indians in Hardik Pandya's absence. The full-time MI captain is serving a one-match ban and will make his return against Gujarat Titans. Ruturaj is once again leading CSK.

He replaced MS Dhoni as CSK's captain before IPL 2024. Ruturaj-led CSK failed to qualify for the second round of IPL 2024. Hardik-led MI finished at the last spot.
