India Receive Delightful News Ahead Of ICC Champions Trophy Match Against New Zealand (Source: AP)

India received delightful news ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy match against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium on March 2. There were reports that Indian captain Rohit Sharma might be rested for the match given the hamstring injury he picked during the Pakistan clash. However, India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed that Rohit Sharma is fit and has no injury concerns.
"He's all right. It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well,” he said.
Reports added that Shubman Gill could make his captaincy debut against New Zealand, but India coach's statement has all but confirmed Rohit Sharma's availability for the match. Rohit has looked in great touch during the event and even though he hasn't crossed the fifty-run mark yet, he has got the team off to flying starts, putting India upfront early in the match.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand clash is a dead rubber in terms of semifinal qualification as both India and New Zealand have made it to the top four, but there is still plenty at stake as the winner of the game will top the Group and will face the runner's up of Group B. India have played terrific cricket, picking comprehensive wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan. New Zealand are also undefeated, having beaten the aforementioned teams, but beating India in Dubai will take a lot more effort from the Kiwis.

Who Will India Face In The Semifinal?

Meanwhile, India will play Australia or South Africa in the semifinal. If South Africa beat England and India beat New Zealand, the Men in Blue will face Australia in the semifinal. If England beat South Africa and India beat New Zealand, the Rohit Sharma-led side will play South Africa. If India lose to New Zealand, they will play the table topper of Group B.
