Indian cricketer Riyan Parag cleared the air over a viral video last year during a gaming stream that showed his YouTube search history. The clip took the internet by storm and put the cricketer in the dock as his search history was quickly captured by social media users and showed explicit searches about popular Bollywood actresses Ananya Pandey and Sara Ali Khan.
Parag opened up on the incident and revealed that he opened YouTube to play music and did not realize what had happened. The 23-year-old further claimed that he only came to know about the incident after the stream ended and claimed it was blown out of proportion.
"I finished the IPL, we were in Chennai, finished the match, got on a Discord call with my streaming team, and it got publicised now, but it happened before the IPL. One of the people in my Discord team tried to set me up before the IPL, but that got taken down very quickly. But then after the IPL, the hype was there, and I had a good season. I came and opened my stream, I didn't have Spotify or Apple Music. Everything was deleted," said Parag on City1016 Radio.
"So I went on YouTube to put on music, and I searched for music. But I didn't know what was happening, but once I did the stream ended, I was like Oh s**t! This happened. It just got blown out of proportion. I didn't think it was good enough a reason for me to go out publicly and clarify everything and no one would understand," Parag added.
Talking about Parag, he made his India debut against Zimbabwe in July last year shortly after a successful 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in which he scored 573 runs in 16 matches at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.21.
So far, the youngster has played 9 T20Is for India, in which he has made 106 runs at a strike rate of 151.42 and taken four wickets. Parag also has played 1 ODI for India in which he took three wickets and scored 15 runs.
The all-rounder missed India's T20I series against England and South Africa due to injuries and made a comeback after a three-month hiatus during Assam's last Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra last week.
