Virat Kohli will make his much-awaited return to the T20 format for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025. The India legend retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. He will partake in the shortest format only in IPL. While nothing is confirmed, Virat can lead RCB in IPL 2025. He captained RCB on a full-time basis from IPL 2013 to 2021.
Virat is on the cusp of history and he will become the first Indian to achieve a huge milestone during IPL 2025. With 12886 runs from 399 matches, Virat is India's highest run-scorer in the shortest format. He is just 114 runs away from becoming the first Indian to score 13000 runs in the shortest format.
Virat made his T20 debut for the Delhi state team in 2007. A year later, he captained India U19 to a title win in the junior World Cup. RCB picked him in the IPL 2008 draft after his success in the ICC event. Virat has been with RCB since then and he is the only player to represent one IPL team in every season.
Virat struggled in the initial IPL seasons and managed to breach the 300-run mark for the first time in 2010. He has been scoring consistently since IPL 2011.
Out of his 12886 T20 runs, Virat has scored 4188 runs at the international level. He was the highest the highest run-scorer in T20Is at one stage in his career.
