Shubman Gill, KL Rahul Create HISTORY, Become First Batters In 48 Years To Achieve Rare Feat In Manchester

India are currently taking on England in the 4th Test of the five -match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. England took a 311-run lead in the second innings, putting India on the backfoot. However, as India came to bat in the third innings, they were pushed further into trouble as they got off to a disastrous start, losing two wicket for no runs on the board, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan departing for ducks in the first over itself. After that KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill have steadied the innings, and the duo have managed to create a record for the first time after 48 years.
KL Rahul and Shubman Gill have put on a century partnership for the third wicket, after they were down 0/2. This is now the first time since 1977 that a pair has achieved this feat. The last pair to do so were Mohinder Amarnath and Gundappa Vishwanath against Australia in 1977 at Melbourne. Rahul and Gill are the third pair to achieve this feat. The first pair to do so were England's Archie McLaren and Stanley Jackson against Australia at Lord's way back in 1902.

KL Rahul, Shubman Gill Achieve Multiple Feats

Both KL Rahul and Shubman Gill have smashed half-centuries as they slowly and steadily chase to score more than the 311-run lead that England took.
Shubman Gill has now achieved multiple records. He has become the Indian captain with the most runs in a single Test series against England, breaking the record of the great Virat Kohli. He is also the Asian captain with the most runs in a Test series in England.
KL Rahul has now become the second Indian opener after the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to face 2000 balls in Test matches in England. In fact, Rahul now has also become the player wit the second-most number of Test 50+ scores in England in a series with 4 such scores.
